Trombone / Sweden - Karin Hammar is one of Sweden's most important trombonists and composers, highly recognized on the European and international jazz scene. Her education at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm provided the foundation for a career marked by high-level collaborations, including international success with the group Sliding Hammers, which she led alongside her sister Mimmi. Hammar is an artist of great versatility, having performed in renowned big bands like the WDR Big Band Cologne and, most recently, joining the prestigious Jazz Baltica Ensemble at the invitation of Nils Landgren. Her extensive résumé includes performances and recordings with legends such as Steve Swallow, Gary Burton, Carla Bley, Maria Schneider, and the Brazilian Ivan Lins. Since 2007, she has led her own group, the Fab 4 quartet, with which she consolidates her authorial voice and compositions. Her excellence is attested by significant awards, such as the Alice Babs Jazz Award and the SKAP Composition Prize. The Fab 4 quartet was also reviewed in the prestigious Down Beat magazine.
